Spotlight Fashion Item: Sparkling Headbands

**********************************

*~Sparkling Headbands for Prom!~*

You get up in the morning, late for school again.
Rushing through breakfast and with no time left to do anything with your hair, you pull it back in a loose ponytail and stick a colorful plastic headband on top for the finishing touch.

You may not know it but the humble headband you wear to school has been a fashion icon since the time of the Greek and Roman empires! The headband has undergone a lot of changes down through the centuries but has never gone out of style, as you can see from these pictures~~

Pretty in Prints: Zebra Stripes

What's black and white and cute all over? A stylish zebra-print prom dress, of course!

Prints are cropping up everywhere this season, from safari-inspired animal prints (think leopard spots or zebra stripes) to playful polka dots, exotic tropical flowers or more subdued pastel blooms---you'll even find abstract prints that are both edgy and modern.

Let's start by looking at part one of the animal prints series, 'Zebra Stripes'. If you want to walk on the wild side, check out these dresses for some inspiration:

Pretty in Prints: Leopard Spots

Now that you've seen some gorgeous zebra-patterned dresses on the last post, let's go ahead and take a peek at some feline-inspired prints:

   .......Leopard.....
...Spots......

.........................................

Leopard print fabric can be both striking and beautiful with certain dress styles (see picture above), but it can also look disastrously tacky if the dress is made cheaply or with too much of a 'costume' theme in mind.
Here are some examples of poorly designed leopard dresses and outfits to steer clear of:

Celebrity Kim Kardashian showed off this hideous, one-sleeved velvet dress (above).

This gown would have been much prettier if she had scrapped the large shoulder pad (and sleeve) plus added an inch or two to the dress length.

The mixture of leopard print/one shoulder design/sleeves (photo on left) on this dress is an unattractive combo that would never survive in the wild.
The colorful dress on the right looks straight from the '80's, complete with neon color splashes and a too-short hemline.

Now that you know what NOT to wear, let's look at what you can wear to look lovely in leopard print!

You can also mix up the leopard look by picking a dress that pops with a bright color!

There are several new prom gowns featuring cheetah prints, which are patterns that have smaller spots than the leopard prints.
