Pretty in Prints: Leopard Spots

Now that you've seen some gorgeous zebra-patterned dresses on the last post, let's go ahead and take a peek at some feline-inspired prints:

Leopard print fabric can be both striking and beautiful with certain dress styles (see picture above), but it can also look disastrously tacky if the dress is made cheaply or with too much of a 'costume' theme in mind.
Here are some examples of poorly designed leopard dresses and outfits to steer clear of:

Celebrity Kim Kardashian showed off this hideous, one-sleeved velvet dress (above).

This gown would have been much prettier if she had scrapped the large shoulder pad (and sleeve) plus added an inch or two to the dress length.

The mixture of leopard print/one shoulder design/sleeves (photo on left) on this dress is an unattractive combo that would never survive in the wild.
The colorful dress on the right looks straight from the '80's, complete with neon color splashes and a too-short hemline.

Now that you know what NOT to wear, let's look at what you can wear to look lovely in leopard print!

You can also mix up the leopard look by picking a dress that pops with a bright color!

There are several new prom gowns featuring cheetah prints, which are patterns that have smaller spots than the leopard prints.
Some examples of the cheetah look:
